Funding Friday: Upcoming Summer Opportunities

This week, our primary focus is residency and fellowships! There are so many opportunities designed not just to help artists market their work, but to work on themselves. Whether it’s an introspective journey or a collaborative experience, these programs reinforce the importance of the journey as the destination, and serve to remind us of what’s really important in the act of creation.
Stiftung Künstler*dorf Schöppingen Residency
Open to professional composers, artists, and authors, this residency is based in Münsterland, near the Dutch border. The program is open internationally, and aims to support social, cross-disciplinary creative practice. By working alongside artists from all over the world, members of the Stiftung Künstler*dorf Schöppingen residents get the opportunity to explore themselves and their work in a larger global context. The residency comes with a monthly stipend of approximately 1,300 euro, and lasts two to six months depending on the participant’s preference and availability.

H. Allen Brooks Travel Fellowship
The Society of Architectural Historians’ presents the 2027 H. Allen Brooks Travel Fellowship for recent graduates or emerging scholars. The program is designed to provide an opportunity for young academics to learn and experience the world through observation: reading, writing, photography and sketching. This all inclusive fellowship spans anywhere from 3 months to a year, and allows the recipient to travel to any country or countries that would best contribute to the knowledge needed for their respective fields.

TED & Posca Partnership
TED and Posca have teamed up to create an artist residency opportunity for artists over the age of 18 interested in the social and collaborative side of creation. Four artists will be selected to engage in a community-rooted public exhibition to be displayed in 2
027, centered around this year’s theme of visible mending. Each artist will receive $15,000 to cover artist fees, production, and community costs.

Freed Fellowship
The Freed Fellowship is a no strings attached grant of $500, given to a small-business owner to invest in an existing business. In addition to the winner, all applicants receive two free months inside the Freed Studio, an online platform designed to help small businesses grow. Fellows are also all eligible to receive an end of the year stipend of $2,500.

Woman’s Net Amber Grant
The Amber Grant gives out at least $30,000 a month in grants of various kinds, all designed to help bolster women owned businesses. Created in honor of Amber Grant, who passed at age 19 before achieving her own business dream, these grants are open for business ideas of any kind. In order to apply, all you need is a dream.

Connection is one of the most fundamental aspects of art, and each one of these programs fosters that in their own unique ways. They work to preserve both artistic and business practices, while allowing artists and entrepreneurs ample time and opportunity to take stock of what’s important to them, and the life they need to create in order to foster it.
